Starting over from scratch with guppies
Back a few years ago I started a guppy pond/ tank & I really didn't know what I was
doing when I got so over loaded with them I just simple got out of them & traded them
in for goldfish & now that it's been a couple years since guppies I want to try it again.
But this next time do it a lot different & not have it get out of control like it did the
last time, this time I am going to get some pg females ONLY & let the fry grow up &
see what I get from them & sell-trade off the 1's I don't want & keep the 1's I want.
This next time I get into it I'll have all the setup going like it SHOULD BE & not all
1/2 assed like when I 1st started the last time I got into it & didn't have a clue about
what I was doing, This time I'll know what & how I want to do with raising them.
# 1 keep the BREEDERS separate males from females, this way it's better to choose
what breeders you want to work with in a 10 gal tank 1 male to 3 females only &
this will give you better colors & different breeds of guppies to sell or trade off.
# 2 keep PLENTY of tanks on hand EMPTY cause your going to NEED THEM
you need your male & female tanks that you breed with, you need birthing tanks
for each female you breed, so you can tell what females had what fry with the male
# 3 Your going to need PLENTY of FRY TANKS on hand for each batch of fry
you have & each tank has to be marked to what female they came from or better
yet just keep the female with the fry till they get old enough to see what she had.
Yes, like I said B-4 this next time is going to be a lot more different than what I
was doing the last time I was raising them more vigilant of what I start up with
to what I can come out with from what I get from the breeding guppies I breed.
10 Things You Should Know
I've been doing a lot more research on the hobby than I did the last time I got
into it, I have a BUNCH of videos on the matter on all sorts of the subject of
raising guppies & breeding & growing fry, as far as selling them, I'm not there.
If I have to get rid of any of them I can trade the 1's I don't want to the fish
store & get new 1's to keep new bloodlines going to get new colors & genes in
order, & the store won't mind trading good guppies for feeder guppies to breed.
I don't want to start raising them till I have moved to another place where I
can have a better setup to have the tanks I need to have to breed guppies the
right way to get a stronger breed of guppies & then try my luck at selling.
Right now all I can do is hope pray & dream about what I want to do in
the future which I have a list of things I want to do if we are blessed in
another place, but for now I'm just learning all I can about a lot of stuff.
